Concert VIII

Tabourettli

Spalenberg 12, 4051 Basel

70 minutes

The Festival’s closing evening invites audiences into an imaginary café where Jewish salon music, early jazz, and classical traditions meet and mingle. The music of Fritz Kreisler, George Gershwin, and Ernest Bloch encounters the unjustly forgotten voices of Alexander Krein, Joseph Bonime, and Vladimir Dyck. In keeping with the festival’s theme, Klezmer and film music by Abe Ellstein run like a thread throughout the evening, weaving these diverse musical worlds together. The ensemble features Ronny Spiegel (violin), Sebastian Braun (cello), Philipp Moll (double bass), and Mischa Cheung (piano).
